Project 2 Exercise 4: Production Shooting

Progress
WEEK 4 (19.9.2022)
We were split into 2 groups for the production shoot exercise and were tasked to shoot 7 short scenes from the K-Drama "Happiness"(2021) as a group. We went around campus to look for suitable spots to shoot each scene and split our roles accordingly. I was assigned the role of assistant Director of Photography.

WEEK 6 (3.10.2022)
Production shooting D-Day. Last-minute role changes put me on the Lighting team. We went around campus to shoot.

We took multiple shoots per scene and later chose the best to use for our video editing task. We also recorded 4 voiceover lines from the original teaser.

WEEK 7 (10.10.2022)
Editing process:

I did colour correction as well as audio sync for this exercise. Tried putting in suspenseful trailer music too. This was a fun project.

Feedback

WEEK 6 (3.10.2022)
Mr Martin suggested that we do not let the actress randomly take off her glasses in scenes or it will cause confusion among the audience. We ended up editing it differently so the scene with her glasses off is the last scene.

Reflection

I'll admit it, videos aren't my forte. Will it ever be? Maybe, but definitely not now. The MV shooting and editing were the death of me and my laptop crashing every 2 seconds is definitely not an ideal condition to be working with. But I digress. This might sound a bit like giving up, but I came out of this project knowing a lot more about video editing than ever before, so I count that as small victories.
