Final Reflection

I'm just realising that this may very much be my final experience with type design, at least in the near future.
This module has been a step up in terms of personal enjoyment, and billions of steps up in terms of difficulty compared to Typography in the previous semester. It's funny how my comment on typography in the previous semester was that "it has a more rigid outline and rules to follow" when the briefs in this module were loose and allowed a lot of room for creativity. In fact, one needs to break some rules in their work to even be considered "good".

The briefs, or the lack of them, pushes one to work around and against them and honestly, it makes the journey and the final outcome a whole lot more fulfilling and rewarding.

Physical classes have indeed made the learning and consultation process a whole lot easier, and let's be real here, one always appreciates a lecturer who knows what he's good at and does it well, and Mr Vinod is exactly that. His occasional snarky/direct feedback hurt a lot lesser now, and if it left any sour taste in my mouth, it's solely because of the hellish amount of work to be revised than any personal feelings hurt.

And when I talk about workload, I mean LOADS of them. Factoring in the equally heavy 3 other modules, I barely have the chance to catch my breath this semester. I guess the workload is essential to evaluate a student's progress but damn, just... damn.

Overall, I found this module hella fun and it's my favourite module this sem. Past me would not believe this. I've refined my skills in typography and grown a lot closer to type. There's still so much more in type to explore though, and the end of this module definitely would not be the end of my time with type.

It was one rollercoaster of a module and I made it out alive! Cheers!
